SENIOR PROCESS ENGINEER

Division:
Energy Systems Group, Reporting to Engineering Manager

Location:
North Vancouver, BC

Employment Type:
Full time – 40 hours per week (hybrid work arrangement)

Purpose of Position:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our North Vancouver team in a hybrid, flexible role. This is a hands-on role responsible for leading the Process Engineering scope of the design, procurement, and manufacturing of industrial process solutions with a focus on heat transfer and combustion

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the design and specification of industrial process systems, emphasizing heat transfer, fluid handling, and energy efficiency.
  • Evaluate client requirements and develop innovative process solutions, including detailed engineering documentation (P&IDs, PFDs, heat & mass balances), sizing and specification of equipment, valves and lines, and develop process simulations.
  • Act as Process technical lead on projects, coordinating with designers, fabricators, suppliers, and clients to deliver high-quality results.
  • Conduct site visits for system assessments, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and designers to build team capability.
  • Contribute to proposals, project planning, and client presentations.
  • Prepare Operating and Maintenance Manuals for supplied systems.
  • Stay current with industry standards, codes, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 procedures and company quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team and organizational goals.

Requirements:
Must-haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Extractive Metallurgical, Mineral Processing Engineering. Candidates with degrees in other disciplines with a strong Process understanding of and background in industrial processes might be considered.
  • Minimum 8 years of process engineering experience in resource industries or industrial equipment design/manufacturing as an applications engineer.
  • Sound understanding of the process fundamentals in hydrometallurgy and/or salt mining.
  • Proficiency in sizing and specifying valves, equipment, and accessories.
  • Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively and independently.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, and adaptable, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and commitment to safety and quality.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience working with or in EPC/EPCM environments.
  • Hands-on experience in hydrometallurgy and/or potash production processes.
  • Operational experience in industrial plant environments.
  • Proficiency with process simulation software (MetSim preferred).
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (ASME, CSA, etc.).
  • Good command of chemistry.
  • Proposal preparation experience.
  • ISO 9001 experience.
  • Understanding of combustion principles.

Compensation:
$100K-$150k per annum

A CLASS GAS FITTER

Division:
Industrial Services Group, Reporting to Industrial Services Group Manager

Location:
North Vancouver, BC

Employment Type:
Full time – 40 hours per week 

Purpose of Position:
The Gas Fitter is responsible for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting industrial heating systems across North America and within our workshop, ensuring work is performed to high quality with positive client experiences.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial heating systems, including:
    • Helical coil oil and glycol heaters
    • Thermal oxidizers and thermal recuperative oxidizers
    • Direct fired air heaters
    • Boilers and boiler systems
    •  Submerged combustion liquid heating systems
  • Work hands-on with industrial heating equipment, ensuring systems run efficiently, meet safety standards, and deliver optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues with combustion equipment, fuel trains, burners, and associated systems to resolve technical problems effectively.
  • Provide excellent customer service, liaising directly with clients to understand needs, explain technical solutions and offer troubleshooting support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Class A Gas Fitter certification with a minimum of 5 years of experience (alternative consideration will be given to those with a Class B ticket and the willingness to train for Class A certification).
  • Experience in either electrical controls in relation to fired equipment or fabrication skills advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as the role involves direct interaction with customers to provide technical support, training, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across North America, with the possibility of international travel.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Compensation:
$50-$70 per hour
